It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Francisco José Mendoza Serrano, beloved husband, father and grandfather. On December 31, 2021 following a lengthy battle with cancer, he joined our Heavenly Father in eternal peace.
Born in San Salvador, El Salvador he was the youngest of six siblings. He graduated from the University of El Salvador with a degree in Chemistry and Pharmacy which he applied to his position as head of the National Water Quality Control Department. Following a civil war, he emigrated to Canada in 1993 looking for new opportunities for his young family. Here, he worked in the manufacturing industry and was a beloved member of the Latin American community. A devout catholic, he was a community leader and teacher of church doctrine in El Salvador and Canada.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years Mabel, his children Ruth, Francisco (Alice), Rodrigo (Aleigha), Diego (Amy), his grandchildren Fernanda, Sebastian, Eli, Aaron, Roman, his siblings Margarita, Cristina, Rodolfo (Lya) and his puppy Hudson.
A private mass will be held on January 5, 2022 at Parroquia Nuestra Señora De La Asuncion, 29 Des Meurons St, Winnipeg, MB.
A memorial service will be held on January 5, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Klassen’s Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg, MB. All are welcome virtually or in-person, however proof of vaccination and masks are required.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Cancer Care Manitoba and the Palliative Care Program. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Francisco’s name may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.
