Eric John Ellison passed away peacefully with family at his side, July 18, 2023 at the enviable age of 96. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Dorothy, sister Muriel and his eldest son John.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Louise, daughter Barb (Andy), son James (Cindy), grandchildren, Mark (Ashton), Kevin (Alanna), Thomas (Eve), Eric, Matthew (Natasha), Paige, and great granddaughter Blair.
Dad began his career working at Ashdown’s where he met the love of his life and best friend Louise. They were married in 1958. He spent 30 years working at TCA/Air Canada in the accounting department. Dad was fortunate enough to have spent 35 years enjoying his well-deserved retirement.
Mom and Dad cherished their time at the family cottage at Grand Beach, where they had many lifelong friendships. He was also very involved with the Lord Selkirk Pipe Band, which led to some great travel adventures and experiences. Dad was the ultimate Maple Leafs fan. His toughest decision was always who to cheer for when the Leafs played the Jets. He used to say, “I can’t lose” with a smile on his face. Other interests included gardening, stamp collecting and soccer. Family was very important to him, and he loved the time spent with the ever-boisterous Fredette clan.
Dad had a huge impact on so many lives. He was always there lending a hand and helping in any way, never needing thanks for a job well done. We will all miss him very much.
The family extends our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Morouz and the nurses of 3 South at the Grace Hospital for their kind, compassionate care.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Eric’s life will be held on Monday July 31, at 11:00 am at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. with Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eric’s memory to the Salvation Army or Siloam Mission, or the charity of one’s choice.
