It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Daljit Singh Rukhra, lovingly known as Dara, on May 25, 2024, in Winnipeg. Born on December 15, 1954, in New Delhi, India, Dara lived a life filled with love, family, and cherished friendships. He immigrated to Canada on May 4, 1977.
He was predeceased by his father Udham Singh, mother Gurbachan Kaur, and sister Jasbir Kaur (Manmohan). He is survived by his beloved wife Daljeet Kaur, their daughters Baljit (Jaskarn) and Jasbir (Naresh), son Amandeep (Anita), and his five adoring grandchildren (Mya, Arya, Riya, Zoya, and Jovin). He also leaves behind his brothers Hardayal (Kashmir) and Gurmukh (Narinder), and his sisters Mohinder (Bhagwant), Gurmeet (Harbhajan), and Gurmesh (Gurdayal). Dara was a beacon of love and support to his family, always ready to lend a helping hand to his loved ones.
Dara was known for his outgoing nature and his readiness to help all his family and friends. In his younger days, he was known as the life of the party and had the most amazing dance moves. His genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met, and he made sure no one ever left his home hungry. A gifted family photographer, Dara's passion for capturing smiles and moments reflected his love of life and his dedication to creating memories.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In The Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, MB. Following the funeral, a bhog of Akhand Path and Antim Ardaas will take place at the Gurudwara Winnipeg South Sikh Center, 1248 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Dara passed away peacefully surrounded by his immediate family, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
