1919-2011
Our mother was born to Adam and Caroline (nee Baron) Young in Melville, SK on Nov 29, 1919, and baptized in Zion Lutheran Church on Dec 25, 1919. She was a gift of God and a Christmas gift to her family.
Mum was the sixth child of eight and has one sister, Phyllis, and one brother Edward, surviving her. Mum and Dad were married in a double wedding ceremony with her brother, August, and fiancée, Mary, on May 24, 1942. Four children were born to this marriage, Joan, Elden, Myrna, and Helen. There are 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grand children whom she loved dearly.
Our mother was a very humble person, a dedicated Christian woman and caregiver to both of her parents, and her husband, Hugo, who predeceased her in 1997.
She was a very talented person with incredible stitching skills. She loved knitting, and quilted regularly with the ladies group at Hope Lutheran Church. This ladies group quilted 100’s of quilts and donated them to Lutheran World Relief.
Mum also loved gardening, and spring was an “occasion” in her yard. That was truly her happy place, her place of meditation, solace and joy.
Your presence at this service today is a source of strength to all of the family. We sincerely appreciate your support.
May all of us find our unfailing strength and comfort in God’s Word, brought to us today. May we be assured that God never leaves us nor forsakes us.
