Alan will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 62 years Peggy; children Michael (Colleen), Ian (Sharron), Kathleen (John); and grandchildren Rob, Megan, Ty, Braiden, and Cassidy.
Born and raised in Regina Saskatchewan, he was educated at Luther College, University of Manitoba, and University of Toronto. Alan worked in the food industry, spending the last 20 years of his career at Bee Maid Honey as the director of marketing and ultimately the vice president.
Alan was well known for his love of golf and all things golf. He was a member of Larters at St. Andrews and Wildewood Golf Courses. He also curled for many years at Deer Lodge Curling Club.
Alan had a strong sense of community acting as a director in several organizations including Winnipeg Jaycees, Larters at St. Andrews, Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, Abra-Yeoman Foods, and was a founding director of the Manitoba Food Processors Association. He volunteered his time for several years as a Gold Wing Ambassador at the Winnipeg Airport where he made use of his linguistic skills in French, German, and Spanish.
Above all, his greatest pride and joy was his family and family gatherings.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Cordova and the Cardiac unit at St. Boniface Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Association or the Reh-fit Centre.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10:00 am at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
