Born April 1st, 1957 in Windsor Ontario and passed away at 16:05 on Wednesday November 23, 2016 at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus. Ron was 59 years, 7 months and 22 days old
Ron was the beloved son of the late Clifford and Ina Whitson and brother to the late Robert (Bob) Whitson. He is survived by his sisters Claire McCormick, Judith Desmarais, and Brenda Ceresato and brothers Mike Whitson and Ernest & Diane Whitson. He is also loved and missed by his children and grandchildren: Tim & Janet Whitson (Nate, Caleb and Caitlin), Melissa & Tim Tar, Derek Whitson (Fiance Tara Chisholm), Nicole Whitson (Fiance Kyle Charron) and Brock Whitson. He will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ron graduated from St Clair College in the Developmental Service Program in 1984. He then utilized that education in working in the Developmental Services field in areas such as: running a foster home in London, ON, at the Southwestern Regional Centre, at CAS London, and Community Living Windsor-Essex. After this time he really enjoyed his time working for the OLG Slots and Casino in Dresden. Outside of work he loved following many sports especially harness horse racing
The family would like to express their gratitude and sincere thanks to all of the nurses, respiratory therapists, lab techs, support staff and doctors at both Windsor Regional Hospital and Chatham hospital for their care of Ron in his final days. Their support and assistance to the family in answering questions and accommodating us was exemplary.
Visitation will be held on Monday November 28, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Visiting will continue the following day; Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am. All will take place at the Walter D. Kelly Funeral Home Life Celebration Centre (1969 Wyandotte St. E. Windsor). Following the service, internment will take place at the Dresden Cemetery (296 Trerice St E, Dresden) at 2:00pm. A reception will be held at the Blazin’ BBQ in Chatham following the final committal, everyone is invited to come. The family has said that in memory of Ron’s way of doing things, the attire for all visitations and services is casual such as ballcap, golf shirt, and black pants or jeans.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donation be made to the Women’s Sledge Hockey of Canada program and/or Chatham-Kent Minor Baseball Association
