Leslie Francis Dowdell

Passed away peacefully with family at his bedside at the age of 80 years at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital . Beloved husband of Diantha Lou (nee Hester) celebrating 58 years of marriage. Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Margaret (nee Brush) Dowdell, brother Leonard Alfred Dowdell, sister Coral Scruton and brother-in-law Ernie Scruton. Survived by sisters Margaret Rotha ( Norman ), Ruth Campbell (Will), Jean Williams (Bob), brother-in-law Jim Hester Jr., sister-in-law Joy Pyrce and cousin Cynthia Brush. Dear father of Leslie Amlin (Jim), Daniel Dowdell (Josette), Lainey Chauvin (Brian), Tim Dowdell (Sarah), Chrissey Copeland, Leonard Dowdell and George Trupp (Melanie). Loving grandpa for Amy Clavet (Yan), Jamie Amlin, Doug Amlin (Amanda), Tara Day (Lee), Tiffany Dowdell, Julie Gouin (fiance Graham), Jeanne Dowdell, Jillian Studman (Jason), Marisa Chauvin (fiance Nick), Michelle Lemire (Bruce), Mathieu Chauvin, Marielle Chauvin, Elizabeth Dowdell, Joseph Dowdell, Nicole Dowdell, Erin & Evan Copeland, Kelcie & Meaghan Dowdell and Spencer & Megan Trupp. Great grandpa of 6. Dearly loved uncle of many nieces and nephews. Graduate of U of Windsor/U of Detroit in Mechanical Engineering, Q.E. from Oakland University. He set up his business Les Dowdell & Assoc. after retiring from Chrysler. A member of Peace Lutheran Church and former president of First Lutheran Church. Cremation services were held. A Christian memorial celebration of Les' life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church (1971 Rossini Blvd. at the corner of Tecumseh and Rossini, Windsor, ON) on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Greg Lutz officiating. Memorial donations to Peace Lutheran Church would be appreciated. The entire Dowdell family sends thanks of appreciation to the HDGH 4th floor staff for their efforts during Les’ last days.
