Wendy DePaolo passed away peacefully October 7, 2021 with her loving family by her side at the age of 79. Wendy was born and raised in Glendale, California. She was preceded in death by her husband James DePaolo, father Charles Day Woodford, mother Helen Hammond Woodford, and brother Theodore Woodford. She is survived by her sister Pam Woodford, her two children Jill DePaolo McDonnell (Timothy) of Denver, CO, and Douglas DePaolo (Melinda), of Cumming, GA, and two grandchildren, Delaney and Emily.
Wendy graduated from the University of Oregon with a major in History and was an adored member of the Chi Omega Sorority. It was on the campus of the University of Oregon that she met her beloved Jim DePaolo and later married in 1963. Wendy and Jim moved to the East coast to pursue careers and to start a family living in Illinois, Missouri, Florida, and Georgia building lifelong friendships at each stop. Wendy spent a good part of her life being a homemaker to her husband, children and grandchildren whom she loved so much. Wendy worked for over 20 years as an office manager for State Farm Insurance before retiring.
She loved helping others in her community through different organizations including the PEO sisterhood and volunteering at Eagle Ranch. She spent her free time with friends playing tennis, attending Miami Dolphin football games, and on the family boat in the Florida Keys watching birds and collecting shells. Wendy was selfless as she always put other people's needs before her own. She was a friend to everyone she met and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and fond memories.
A private family memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in the Florida Keys at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eagle Ranch @eagleranch.org/give.
