Karen Medcalf White, 77 of Winder, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022. Karen was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Virgil and Gay Medcalf on January 3, 1945. Karen was raised in Thomaston, Georgia and helped her parents in their music store, Medcalf Music, throughout her adolescent and teen years. After graduating from Georgia State, she worked at Oxford Industries. In 1977 Karen married Dewey White and together, in the late 1970’s, they formed White Fox Farm. At the farm, Karen bred thoroughbred race horses providing too many accolades to mention but all represented in her Horse Wall of Fame displayed at their home. Karen had an entrepreneur’s spirit; she was the owner of Betty’s Flower Shop in the 1980's and she worked alongside Dewey with his passion for Real Estate. She had a creative and artistic nature; designing and making stained glass windows that are displayed in her home and her horse barns. Karen was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Winder where she sang in the choir. She loved the Georgia Bulldogs Football Team and was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves. Karen was also an avid reader. Karen and her husband were passionate supporters of the UGA Veterinary Hospital, Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association.
Karen White is preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Gay Medcalf; and son Marc Andrew.
Karen is survived by her loving husband Dewey White; sons Michael (Michele) White and Barry (Karen) White; and grandchildren Ryan Craig, Megan Craig, Regan White, Connor White, Parker White and Davis White.
A visitation for Karen will be held Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Winder First United Methodist Church, 280 N Broad Street, Winder, GA, followed by a funeral service at 2:30 PM.
