

John Andrew DeNitto, age 97, went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2021. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Mary (Pascale) and Matthew DeNitto. He retired as a teacher from the New York City School System. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Uniondale, NY for 59 years. Currently he was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Winder. He lived a very full life. His hobbies were painting, bowling, dancing, skateboarding, and pottering. He also traveled extensively in the US and abroad.
John was predeceased by his parents Matthew DeNitto and Mary Pascale Paterno. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen Joyce DeNitto, son John DeNitto, brothers Pat DeNitto and Daniel DeNitto, and sister Lena Leonti.
John is survived by his children: Robert (Debra) DeNitto of Bolivia, NC, Joyce Gambina of Mastic, NY, Mary Hatfield (Keith) of Jacksonville, FL, and Joan (John) Vanek of Winder, GA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass to commemorate the life of John DeNitto will be held on December 10 at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Winder, Georgia.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, has been charged with arrangements.
