Don was born in Statham, GA in 1934. He is preceded in death by his parents Grover and Gladys Foster Casper, and brother Delmer Casper. He is survived by his sister Rebecca (Becky) Slay of Bogart, GA, and brother Jack Casper of Livingston, TN; sister in law Nell Casper and numerous nieces and nephews.
His childhood was spent surrounded by his loving parents, grandparents, siblings: Delmer, Rebecca (Becky) and Jack, and numerous cousins. In the 1950s Don moved to Atlanta, GA and began a thirty-five year career with USPS. In the 1950s Don met and fell in love with Sybil Morris. On August 12, 1956, they were married at the same church where they met. Their happy and God centered marriage lasted sixty-five years.
He was especially proud of his Christian family and is survived by his wife, Sybil of McMinnville, TN; son Wayne and wife Tamra of Rock Island, TN, son Michael and wife Julia of Pulaski, TN, grandson Eric and wife Tara and their two sons Wyatt and Lee of Murfreesboro, TN, granddaughter Donna of Rock Island, TN, granddaughter Carson and husband Eric and their two children Hannah and Soren of Fayetteville, NC, and granddaughter Emily of Alpharetta, GA.
Don loved the Lord’s church and served as an elder, deacon, teacher and song leader. While being active in the Lord’s church, Don was also active in his community. He performed at numerous piano concerts throughout the Atlanta area and sang tenor as a member of the Atlanta Choral Guild. He served on the board of the local Elks International and was an officer at the local Lion’s International Club. After moving to McMinnville, TN in 2019, he became a member of the Exchange Club.
At the time of his passing, Don was a member of the Central Church of Christ in McMinnville, TN. The family would like to express it's gratitude to the Central Church of Christ members for their love, acts of kindness, and support.
While Don’s presence will be greatly missed, we rejoice in knowing he fought the good fight. He will receive his reward when the Lord says “Welcome home my good and faithful servant”.
On January 22, 2022, Smith Funeral Home will hold visitation from 1:00 until 3:00 pm. The Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 pm in Smith Memory Chapel. Interment will follow at Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.
