Elm City: Sara Jo Joyner Turnage, age 64, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at UNC Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC. Sara Jo was the daughter of the late Paul Joyner and Lillian Ruth Winstead Joyner. She was also preceded in death by a sister Paulette Lewis and brothers-in-law Buddy Lewis and Tom Glasgow, Jr.
Sara Jo was a member of Riverside Community Free Will Baptist Church, she enjoyed the Flea market, eating out, movies and hanging out with her family and her canine companion “Sandy”. She loved her Lord.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 32 years Bobby Gene Turnage, Jr., her sisters Diane Vester and her husband Benjamin of Elm City, Judith Glasgow of Carpinteria, CA, Debbie Jenkins and her husband Randy of Elm City, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 27, 2022 at People’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Elm City with Rev. Cliff Harwood officiating.
Thomas -Yelverton at Evergreen is serving the Turnage family.
