Michael Ray Lancaster, 78, of Wilson passed way Thursday, June 24, 2021. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Daniels Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Black Creek Cemetery, Black Creek, NC.
The family will receive friends Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home, 2704 Nash St. N, Wilson, NC.
Michael was a loving, hardworking daddy and faithful husband. He was a professional truck driver for over 45 years, was awarded the 3 Million Mile Safety Award from CPC Logistics, Inc. for driving over 3 million miles without an accident, and was nominated to the National Private Truck Council for the Bridgestone-Firestone Driver Hall of Fame. Michael was a tour bus driver for the Dixie Melody Boys and, after retirement, worked for 11 years hauling sweet potatoes for Scott Farms. He loved attending Gaither concerts with Suzanne and Addison and enjoyed eating breakfast every other Saturday at Ray’s Drive In with his family. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his daughter, Suzanne Lancaster Cunningham; his granddaughter, Addison “Toot-Toot” Cunningham; and one brother-in-law, Billy Godwin (Rose).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lancaster; his parents, Reb and Lillie Jackson Lancaster; two sisters, Jessie Mae Godwin and Margaret Matthews and husband, James, and one brother, Charles Lancaster and wife, Evelyn.
