Len was born on August 17, 1958 in Greenville, North Carolina, the son of Lina Green and the late Linwood O’Neal Green. He graduated from D.H. Conley High School in 1976, then attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (A&T). There he earned his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1980 and was an active member of the ROTC.
Len started active duty in the Army on June 30, 1980. His time in the Army included two tours of duty in Dessert Storm. He concluded his military career on June 30, 2000 as a Major (04). He then served in a variety of roles supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) until his retirement from the DoD Defense Information Systems Association (DISA) as a Program Analyst on October 1, 2023.
Len married Janice Green on July 18, 1998. They lived lovingly and in support of each other, and their families, for 26 years. Len had a long-time love of drawing, wood-working, painting, and photography which he shared generously with his community. Len became a follower of Jesus in 1996 and was baptized soon after. Some of the ministries he served in were Church Moderator, Greeters, Praise Team, Men’s Ministry, and God’s Heart Ministry.
Remaining to cherish Len’s memory are his wife, Janice Green; his mother Lina Green; his children, Erik Green, and Whitney Green; and his siblings, Lynette Daniels, Lawrence Green, and Louedell Green Champion. His marriage to Janice expanded his family to include: a daughter, the same age as Erik, her husband and their four children, Callista Josiah, Ariana Josiah, Ishmael Josiah (deceased), and Nathaniel Josiah; and Tiffanie Sykes, her husband, Romulus Sykes and their son, Irvin Kane Kaylen Davis.

Papa, thank You for Your love and generosity. You blessed us with the privilege of doing life with Len. Now he is at home with You and we have the opportunity to be with him again. I pray that none of his family and friends will miss having that reunion. I pray these things in Jesus’ name, amen.
