Gladiola Joyner Lewis Rackley age 89, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at her home surrounded by family. She was born August 14, 1935 in Nash County to the late Fred D. Joyner and Gladys Williford Joyner and was also predeceased by her first husband Marvin Clifton Lewis and her second husband Irvin Eldridge Rackley and her daughter Deborah Lewis Mercer.
Gladiola was a member of Elm City Missionary Baptist Church, retired from R.H. Donnelley and was a supporter of the North Carolina Beekeepers’ Association and the Asheboro, NC Zoo Bee Exhibit which her husband Irvin supported, and was a member..
Left to cherish her memory is her son Raymond Edward Lewis, II of Elm City, her four daughters, Edna Marie Lewis of Wilson, Jenny Gibson-Williams and her husband Gary of Nashville, Betty L. Bass and her husband Bobby of Wilson and Michelle Denise Lewis of Charleston, SC, her grandchildren, Rickey Kevin Mercer and his wife Courtney, Michael Gibson and his wife Johanna, Roger Bass and his wife Ashley and Taylor Reges and her husband Jason, her greatgrandchildren, Adalyn Mercer, Adam Mercer, Ellis Gibson, Jude Gibson, Noah Bass, Charlie Bass, Brayden Bass, Hannah Reges, Sawyer Reges and Tate Reges.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday November 3, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Wells and Pastor Woody Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service at Thomas – Yelverton Funeral Home and other times at the home, 607 Gray St. Elm City, NC.
