Shorty served in United States Army. He was a founding member and Deacon at The Refuge Church in Sharpsburg. He had a tremendous love for his church and his family. Shorty retired after many years from Duke Energy. He also farmed, and continued to enjoy gardening long after his retirement. He never met a stranger and was known as “Pop” to all his church family. He will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Erastus Greene and Margaret Webb Greene and one brother Ken Greene.
Shorty leaves behind his loving wife of twenty years, Judy of the home, his six children; Michael Greene (Angie) of Lattimore, Brian Greene (Lisa) of Cherryville, Kristie Howell (Kenny) of Mocksville, Todd Greene (Cristal) of Nashville, Chip Greene (Marcia) of Roanoke Rapids, and Chelle Harrell of Virginia Beach, VA, one brother Steve Greene of Henrico, one sister Hilda Crawford of Charlotte, seventeen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, his family brother Keith Tuck, his whole Tuck family and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends and visitors on Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at 11:30 am at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home and will be officiated by Pastor Todd Greene. Interment will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, 11650 Hwy 47, Chase City, VA 23924.
