Mr. Cordell was preceded in death by his parents; Ronie Bunn and Lola Finch Bunn, his wife; Martha Winstead Bunn, his step mother; Cleo Bunn, his daughter Judy Carol Boykin, two brothers; Jake Bunn and Ellis Bunn, and four sisters; Mae Taylor, Ruby Hopkins, Lucille Wilder and Elsie Draper.
He is survived by his son; Timothy Clarence Bunn and wife Tammy of Wilson, his daughter; Phyllis Dale Gardner and husband Wiley of Wilson, two sisters; Shelby Winstead of Elm City and Louise Whitley of Middlesex, seven grandchildren; Kenneth Boykin, Adam Gardner, Alicia Thompson, Greg Boykin, Crystal Keel, Shala Crabtree and Jena Bunn, fifteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Cordell will always be remembered for his love of hunting, gardening and sports. Particularly his love of the Carolina Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves. He was married to the love of his life Martha for 69 years. He retired from Wilson County Health Department after working for 25 years. Mr. Cordell loved spending time with his family and his faithful companion Muffin. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, October 21, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home, 2704 Nash Street, N, Wilson, NC. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Elm City on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
