Thomas “Tommy” A. Spikes, age 82, of Belville, NC passed away peacefully Saturday morning February 25. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary, four children: Tammy Deans, Angel Griffin, Liz Spikes, and Susan Barden, thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one brother Henry, and a sister Betsy.
Tommy grew up in Raleigh, NC where he attended Cary High School. He worked for and owned Spikes Roofing and Sheet Metal Company which was started by his dad.
After he gave his life to Christ following his wife after watching a Billy Graham crusade on television, he attended Holmes Bible College where he obtained a degree in Christian Ministry. Afterwards, he worked as a pastor and evangelist.
Tommy enjoyed playing golf, fishing, gardening, drawing, writing, traveling with his wife, and telling people about Jesus. He spent most of his life in the Raleigh area, but he also lived and worked several years in Elkin and Boone, NC, and after retirement he moved with his wife to the coast near Wilmington, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Adams Spikes and Ruth Kirk Spikes, daughters, Wanda and Sheron, one brother Walter, and one sister Jean.
Our family is grateful to know that Tommy is now resting in peace in the presence of Jesus.
A private service will be held at Coble Funeral Home on February 28 at 1:00 pm and his body will be buried at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
