Shirley Little Croom

Shirley Little Croom, age 81, of Elizabethtown, North Carolina went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was born in Southport, North Carolina on May 24, 1942 to her late parents Barcy Ardell Little and Iola Little Little.

In 1963, Shirley met her beloved husband of 60 years, Earl McKay Croom at the Chic-Chic Drive-In. They were inseparable throughout their lives together. She loved nothing more than to spend time with her husband and girls. Shirley and Earl went on to have two beautiful daughters April and Kaye. April C. White is married to Jon and reside in Elizabethtown with their two sons, Shirley’s loving grandsons, Hunter and River. Kaye and her husband Rocky live in Wilmington with their 4 fur babies.

Shirley is preceded in death by her brothers: Dale and Jerry Little and her sister, Debbie White. She is survived by family: Vickie Mintz, Jennifer Coston, Katie Coston, Betty Hewett and Ernie White along with countless friends and church family.

Shirley worked as a hairdresser until she retired in her late 60’s to enjoy her passion for gardening and cooking traditional comfort food. Shirley could bake a cake “like nobody’s business.” She enjoyed all kinds of crafting and was very involved with her church. Shirley loved to watch the birds and made sure to keep her many feeders full. Watching the rabbits and other wildlife along with blooming flowers brought her much joy.
