Lena Banker Rhodes, 89, of Wilmington, NC went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 23, 2012 at NHRMC. She was born in Charlotte, NC, July 6, 1923. The daughter of the late Willie Ann and Artie Banker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Walter Rhodes and her sister, Ruby Hampton.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Rhodes, a son Wayne Rhodes (Sandy), five grandchildren, Valerie Schwartz (David), Mike Rhodes (Dana), Nathalie Rhodes, Michael, and Jason Henry; three great-grandchildren, Kevin, Courtney, and Kaitlyn Schwartz; God-daughter Dee Sidbury (Al); and a host of other relatives and friends.
A long time member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, she was loved by all.
A visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at Coble Ward-Smith Oleander Chapel. A funeral service will be Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Tree of Life, Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, Wilmington NC.
