Dorothy was born in Atlanta, GA on July 6, 1933 to the Late A.T. & Bertha Adams. She was preceded in death by the Love of her Life, her husband of 62 years, MSGT Cleveland M. Wright. Also preceded by her Brothers Walter Adams & Raymond Adams & Sister Hazel A. Bottoms.
As a young adult, Dorothy, modeled clothes and jewelry in an Atlanta Department Store. Her fate intervened when she met a young soldier on a Greyhound bus ride. They were soon wed and she faithfully served as a Military wife for 24 years until Cleve’s retirement. Dorothy and the children would follow suit to Army Orders both home and abroad, as ‘Home’ was where her husband’s heart was.
Throughout the years Dorothy remained a faithful, loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend to all. Not only maintaining her duties as a Wife and Mother, she was very involved in the OES, worked as a floral designer, handmade their clothes and frugally budgeted to always save for a rainy day. After moving to Wilmington, NC in the early 70’s she soon became part of the Dental community working the front desk for over 30 years. Everyone knew ‘Dot’. You could always count on a gentle, kind voice with a caring smile and her homemade seasonal décor throughout the office. She also very much cherished her Thursday crochet and craft day at the Senior Center. She loved people and was always eager to serve others with charitable deeds and a loving heart. Her Keep She Most Definitely Earned. ‘Hot to Trot Dot’ also LOVED to laugh and was NEVER too old for a good joke.
Dorothy is survived by her 3 children: Elbert O. Wright (Jill) of Wilmington, NC, Rose Mary Wright Potter (Patrick) of Wilmington, NC and Edward ‘Sam’ Wright (Donna) of Willard, NC.; Brother in Law, Bobby Wright (Linda) of Orlando, FL, Mac Wright and sister Jane Joyner; 4 Grandchildren : Alisha Wright Rivenbark (Jamie), Clayton M.
