She was born in Brunswick Co. on January 6, 1921 to the late Loucresie Allen Benton and George Franklin Benton. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis James Walker and daughter, Loucresie Irene Walker Mercer.
She was an avid gardener and Quilter.
She is survived by her children, Betty Walker Watkins, Nancy “Billie” Walker Sundquist and husband Sunny, James Franklin Walker “Butch” and his wife Edna; sister, Aleene Benton Thorpe; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 9 great- great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service.
Funeral Service will be held at 11am with Daisy’s Grandson, Robert James “Sport” Mercer officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
Pallbearers will be Greg Hall, Josh Thompson, Billy Futch, Austin Edwards, Cameron Casteen, Bryan Gerganous, Tommy Edwards and Roy Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
