Carole Brann Siegel, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 25th, 2024, after complications from hip surgery and a stroke. This is a blessing for Carole and the family as she missed her husband, David Siegel, of 65 years dearly and wanted to join him in heaven. Being a dependable mother and an adoring and devoted wife was of the utmost importance to Carole. She loved her family wholeheartedly.
Carole was born in Staten Island, NY to Louis and Ida Brann. She grew up with her brother, Martin Brann and her sister, Barbara Brann Landowne. She skipped a few grades growing up, and graduated from high school early, attending Cornell University at the age 16. She graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, where only 1 other woman was graduating that year. She met David in College , fell in love, and married. After graduating, they moved to the Washington, D.C. area. Together they created a loving family, complete with Janet (Jeffery) Robertson, Steven (LaVonda) Siegel, and Jeffrey Siegel. In addition to her children Janna, Steve and Jeff, Carole is survived by her grandchildren Matthew (Amy and great granddaughter Finley) Siegel , Taylor Siegel, Lucas Siegel, Jessica Robertson, Jason Robertson, Jordan Siegel, and Kylie Siegel.
While the children were young, Carole shuttled them to various events including soccer games, baseball games and art classes where she was very involved and never missed a chance to help out or just cheer. As the kids became older and more independent, Carole ventured back to the work force where she excelled again. She first started as a math tutor for neighborhood kids, evolved to a high school teacher, and finally a college professor. Dave and Carole enjoyed living in the Philadelphia area where she got her masters at Villanova and taught at West Chester University and the Philadelphia School of Pharmacy and Medicine. As they approached retirement, they moved to Kissimmee, FL, where she worked at Valencia Community College, and in 2014, she and Dave moved again to Plantation Village in Wilmington, NC, to live closer to their family.
During her adult years, she became an excellent tennis and then Pickleball player playing multiple times per week. Carole will also be remembered for her love of swimming and exercise biking which she would do almost every day for the last 20 years of her life. She also loved playing cards, mahjong and bridge with her friends and family. She would also read dozens of books per year and watch TV shows on her iPad while exercising.
The funeral service will be held in private. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Transitions Life Care who provided Hospice Service for Carole. https://www.transitionslifecare.org/ 919.828.0890
