He was born on October 17, 1935 to Glenn Godfrey and Flora Spivey Godfrey, both predeceased.
Mr. Godfrey loved his church, his family, music, especially bluegrass, and fishing. He had served in the Airforce and had worked at LCP for 30+ years.
He is survived by his wife, Sadie Easterling Godfrey of the home; a daughter, Jennerea G. Schoo and husband, Joseph of Boiling Springs, NC; a son, Billy Eugene Godfrey, Jr. and wife Heather of Wilmington; two stepdaughters: Alice West Duplissey of Leland, NC and Anita F. Clark and husband David of Rock Hill, SC and one stepson, Douglas Alan West of Wilmington; a sister, Doris Swain and husband Earl of Sanford, NC;sister-in-laws, Nancy Godfrey and Sarah Godfrey; four brothers: G.W. Godfrey and wife, Janet of Sanford, NC, Ralph Godfrey and wife Brenda of Winston Salem, NC, Harold Godfrey and Treva of Sanford, NC and Eddie Godfrey and wife Teresa of Sanford, NC, eleven grandchildren: Scott, Roman, TJ, Nick, John, Chris, Mathew, Katherine, Zachary, Zoe, and Geoffrey and six great-grandchildren: Cadance, Skyy, Caleb, Grayson, Maddox, and Bentley.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3PM December 28, 2016 held at Coble Ward-Smith with Bishop Roy Coleman officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The Graveside Service will be held at 1PM Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Center UMC Cemetery, Sanford, NC.
