October 24, 1936 – January 8, 2023
Wilmington, North Carolina. Barbara Perry, 86, passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 8, 2023. Barbara was born in Salisbury, North Carolina. She later moved to Marietta, Georgia, where she married Robert M. Trout, who preceded her in death, along with her parents and sister, Mary Jo Allen.
GE relocated Barbara and her family to Wilmington in 1968, where she lived until her death. When not working, she relished spending days at the beach with her family. Upon her retirement after 25 years with GE Nuclear, Barbara delighted in traveling, reading, playing cards and games of all kinds, spending time with family, and running with her close-knit group of friends. She was a member of Harbor United Methodist Church and its Women of Faith Group, as well as the Red Hats and the New Hanover County Senior Center, where she loved playing canasta and line dancing. She also played a mean game of poker with her monthly poker group.
Barbara is survived by two children, Robin Trout (LeAnn Wallace) of Holly Springs and Lisa Dent (Les) of S. Charleston, W.V.; three grandchildren — Desmond Dent (Kindal), Beth Hartwell (David), and Kimberlee Smith (Justin); and three great-grandchildren (Aubriana, Evelyn, and Ezra).
A Celebration of Life and Love will be held on March 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Harbor United Methodist Church at 4853 Masonboro Loop Rd., Wilmington, N.C., with a reception and visitation following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, whose staff treated Barbara so lovingly in her final days, or to the Harbor United Methodist Church of Wilmington.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.CobleGreenlawn.com for the Perry family.
