Antonio "Tony" Guimaraes

With great sorrow, the Guimaraes family announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring, and witty Antonio “Tony” Luiz dos Reys Guimaraes, 72, of Wilmington, North Carolina. Tony passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

Tony was born on July 24, 1950 to Stella and Celso Guimaraes in Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 1999, his career led him and his family to move to Boston, MA where they established new roots.

Tony developed a successful career in Human Resources and was known for being passionate about his work. He made lifelong friends with all his colleagues who said his smile and wit would brighten up their days.

Even in the face of his struggles, Tony remained resilient, loving, and still managed to have his sense of humor and appetite for sweets.

He is survived by his loving wife Marcia, his daughter Marcela and fiancé Jeremy, his daughter Barbara, his son Filipe and wife Tori, his sons Rafael and Rodrigo and his two granddaughters Brianna and Hailey.

Tony had an impact on many people throughout his life and his legacy will live on.

A memorial service for Antonio will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, North Carolina 28412.
