He leaves his son Dale and his wife Kari along with his Granddaughter Kathryn Huddleston, her husband Vincent and their son Dawson, Al’s Great Grandson, his Grandson Gregory Sullivan, Granddaughter Lesley Sullivan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Al was born on January 4th 1932 in Brunswick County, N.C. He married his longtime wife in 1950.
He served his country during the Korean War from 1952-1954 and was Honorably discharged from the Army as a Sergeant.
After serving his country he worked at farming and operating heavy equipment until 1959 when he became employed at North Carolina Equipment Company in Raleigh. He then transferred to the Wilmington branch where he worked until retirement in 2001.
During his life in Wilmington he also served on the Myrtle Grove Volunteer Fire Department from 1970 - 1990 retiring at the rank of Captain.
He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, he loved his family deeply. He will be missed by many as he had many friends from over the years. Big Al’s greatest size was his heart, he gave off it freely and often without being asked. He is now in Heaven with our Lord, may he rest in peace.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00 pm on Tuesday November 22, 2022 at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1155 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
Funeral Service will start at 2:00pm in the Coble Funeral and Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel with Pastor Matt Whaley officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
