Ventura "VJ" J. Islas, age 90, of Wilmington, California passed away on Saturday January 26, 2019. "VJ" was born November 29, 1928 in San Pedro, California to Felipe & Rosalina Islas. Affectionately known as VJ, he served his country in the US Navy, was a Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service for 35 years. In his retirement years he was a dedicated Assistant Coach to the Banning High School Football Team for many years.
"VJ" is survived by; son Anthony (Denise) Islas; and daughter Linda Islas; sister Gloria Kraft and sister Teresa Ramirez. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann Islas, he leaves his legacy on this earth through his 4 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren
Visitation for "VJ" will be Monday, February 11, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Wilmington, 1640 North Avalon Blvd, Wilmington, CA 90744, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM also at the Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial is on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 1011 East L Street, Wilmington, CA 90744. Inurnment will be on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Green Hills Memorial Park 27051 S. Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275
