Michael A. Cohen

Born to Seymour and Ethel Cohen, he grew up in Chicago Heights with his sister Carol. He graduated from Northwestern University and went on to pursue his passion for photography and filmmaking, and contributed to several films including producing the Emmy-winning documentary “Blind Love.”

Michael worked for nearly two decades in the Chicago schools, before moving to Israel. While living in Jerusalem, he shot a series of short films about life in the Holy Land. He later returned to his hometown Chicago.

“I’d like to see the advent of kindness in life’s last chapter,” Michael wrote recently.

He was the beloved father of Kevin, Shawn (Julia) and David (Daria), cherished grandfather of Max, Isaac, Alison, Eidan and Ava, loving brother of Carol and caring uncle of Abraham. He also was dear friends with Paul Ankin and Pam Preston, his devoted caretaker.
