Lois Shay Wilson, 99, of Wilmette passed away peacefully in her own home surrounded by her family on January 24, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Turner Wilson; loving mother of Roger (Muffy Hendershot), Richard (Robin), Randall, Mary (Georgiana Sirotzke) and Katherine Wilson; cherished grandmother of Alexandra, Andrew, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Samuel; proud great grandmother of Evee, Kaylee, Noah, Liam, Callen and Autumn; dear sister of the late Peggy Shay Caldwell, and cherished friend of the late Pete Wilson.
Lois was a loving person who always went out of her way to help anyone in need. Her dedication to volunteering was unparalleled, having spent 40 years at North Shore Hospital formerly known as Skokie Valley. In addition to volunteering, she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and playing bridge. She had a gift for connecting with people and never met a stranger. Once she considered you a friend, you were in it for life as she never let go. Her faith in God was also a central part of her life, as she attended mass daily for many years at Saints Faith, Hope and Charity and said a daily rosary. She set an example for all of us to follow and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
