A chain associate with Heritage Wine Cellars and the Hirsch Family for over two decades, he worked hard and helped grow the company for which later became RNDC. Even through change, Larry was able to adapt and became the number one chain division salesman. Larry was liked and appreciated by his coworkers and customers, and he usually had them laughing.
A big guy with a booming voice who enjoyed life, friends, food, and family. He was a musician, writer, sailor, collector of odds and ends and an alley action hero. In high school, he was a talented football player who played full back and defensive end. During a playoff game he ran a seventy-eight-yard fumble recovery for a score at Soldier Field his graduation year, 1976.
Among his treasures were his nieces and nephews, guitars, amps, vinyl records and reading books.
Larry was a brother to Carole, Barry (Judy), Garry (Melissa), uncle to Ashley, Eric, Libby, Josh, Michael Schmueck, Erica (Nick) Cardiff; great uncle to Max Cardiff; brother-in-law to David Schmueck; cousin to Sari and Ian Rubin and Rebecca Catalano.
Friends and family will gather for a memorial service for Larry that will be held on Friday, May 31st, 2024 at 1PM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Boulevard, Wilmette, IL 60091.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
