Survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 64 years, Ferne (nee Isaacs), and his three children, Andrea, Heidi (Ross Guberman), and Jeffrey; Joe displayed a wisdom and warmth that will be deeply missed. He also leaves a legacy of joy and pride through his four grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda Burnside), Madison (Joey Plotkin), Sean, and Meghan, and his adorable great-granddaughter, Lyla.
Joseph was a dear brother-in-law to Howard Isaacs, a devoted son to his late parents, Ruth and Hymen, and a caring brother to his late sister, Gwen (the late Marvin) Weiner. His kindness and wit touched countless other family and friends as well.
An alumnus of the Illinois Institute of Technology and ROTC, Joseph served honorably as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. His pursuit of knowledge continued with an MBA from the University of Chicago. His long career spanned from industrial engineering to liquor sales and college teaching.
In his retirement, Joseph’s passion for community and camaraderie led him to establish a men’s group, GEL, which fosters friendship and support to this day.
A service to honor Joseph's life will be held Friday, December 29, 3PM at Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 W Montrose Ave, Norridge, IL. The family kindly requests that in place of flowers, contributions be made to JourneyCare in Barrington.
