Joanne Stein

Joanne "Joey" Stein, nee Bloom. Beloved wife of the late Jack G. Stein, mother of Alex (Judi), Mark (Alisa) and Marla. Dear grandmother of Laura, Di, Aviva (Owen) and Jonah, Fond sister of Ronald (Lois) Bloom and the late Herbert (Harriet) Bloom. Cherished daughter of the late Matilda and Markus Bloom. The family also wants to acknowledge Bernie Stern, a special companion to Joanne in her later years.

Joanne earned a Master's degree from Northwestern University and was a teacher of Spanish and English in Chicago-Area high schools with her last position at Roosevelt High School. She was also a teacher of E.S.L. for Oakton College, a board member of Ezra-Habonim Niles Township Jewish Congregation Sisterhood, a member of Hadassah, a model, a lecturer and presenter of book reviews and programs for many organizations, as well as an avid reader and world traveler. She was a much-loved teacher who continued her teaching career for over 50 years.

Friends and family will gather for a service for Joanne that will be held Sunday at 12 Noon at Ezra-Habonim, the Niles Township Jewish Congregation, 4500 Dempster Street, Skokie, Illinois 60076. Interment Westlawn Cemetery Norridge, Illinois.
