Jeanne Betty Schwartz

Jeanne Betty Schwartz, née Fredman, born Sep. 1, 1925, passed away surrounded by her family on Dec. 1, 2024. Beloved wife of Richard Jacob Schwartz for 43 wonderful years; loving mother of Francine Joanne (Lawrence) Bober and Jody Anne Schwartz; adored grandmother of Natalie Bober; devoted daughter of the late Fannie (née Eichenberg) and Benjamin Fredman; dearly beloved sister of the late Shirley Debra Fredman and the late Harriett (Bennett) Levy (née Fredman); treasured aunt of Robert (Nita) Levy, Fran (Robert) Sachs, John (Janet) Levy, Joseph (Marita) Schwartz, Michael (Linda) Schwartz, Alan “Duke” (Robin) Schwartz, and Terry Schwartz.

Jeanne was an incredible athlete, actress, teacher and business woman. After attending the University of Texas at Austin and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York, New York, Jeanne played characters in the radio series "John’s Other Wife" and "Pretty Kitty Kelly." Jeanne was also a teacher at the Bernard Horwich JCC, Skokie, Illinois. Jeanne was the owner of beauty salons in Illinois and Florida. She was also a civil rights leader, author and disabilities advocate. Jeanne’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially her dog Otto and her granddaughter Natalie. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 1:00 p.m. at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL 60091.
