Mark Jacobsen (1970-2024), beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin, was born and raised in Texas and was a long-time resident of the Chicago area. He was a graduate of Brazoswood High School (Clute, TX), Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, TX), and DeVry University (Chicago, IL). Mark started his career in computer programming and later switched to working with computer hardware. As a tech-savvy problem solver, he was the family’s go-to IT consultant. Mark loved all kinds of games and puzzles and was especially good at solving logic puzzles like Sudoku. He also spent many of his Saturdays working on jigsaw puzzles with his mother and playing card games with his father. A compassionate, thoughtful person who was always willing to help others, he was known for his friendliness and his dry wit. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by parents Jim and Penny Jacobsen, sisters Kristin Jacobsen (Allan Shampine) and Lise Jacobsen, nieces Fiona Shampine and Maeve Shampine, uncle Jerry Jacobsen, and many cousins. In lieu of flowers, consider commemorating Mark’s life with a donation to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org). Memorial service and internment of ashes will be in August. Contact Kristin or Lise for details.
