Michael Angelo Caligiuri, age 99, of East Amherst, New York passed away peacefully with his family at his side after a very brief illness on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Louise R. (Mutignani); dear father of Mary Ann Rich, Michael (Ani) Caligiuri, Christine (late Mark) Scarcello, Catherine (Tony) Anastas, Lisa (Scott) Isley, Terri Caligiuri (William Gajewski), Rosaire (Peter) Banks, Regina (Andrew) Kurban, Joseph (Jeanne) Caligiuri and the late JoAnn Caligiuri; Grandfather of 25, great grandfather of 13; Brother of Msgr. Angelo Caligiuri and the late Msgr. Anthony Caligiuri, Joseph Caligiuri and Mary Witherspoon. He graduated from Burgard High School, was drafted into the U.S. Air Force during WWII, then attended Canisius College on the GI Bill, worked for Curtis Wright and subsequently the Gates Rubber Co until his retirement. Mike was a devout Catholic, a loving and devoted husband to the love of his life, Louise, for their 58 years of marriage until her passing in 2012, and an amazing provider for Louise and their 10 children. He was cured of 3 different cancers at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and went on to live a healthy and happy life. Mike was a life-long handball player following WW II until the age of 93 at the Buffalo Knights of Columbus where he cherished seeing his countless friends over the decades. He was also a life-long Buffalo Bills’ fan and became a fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes, attended by eight of his grandchildren. In widowhood, he traveled extensively with his children to Columbus for Buckeye football and Pelotonia, Boston, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Florida, Puerto Rico, a dozen cruises in the Caribbean, Greece, Rome, and the Holy Land, often with his dear friend, Donna Seiple. He will be missed as kind, loving and always ready to listen, but he will never be forgotten. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on December 16th at Saint Mary Church Chapel in Swormville, NY.
