Mairlyn was on of the happiest people I have ever met, She always had a smile on her face. She was so sweet and considerate of everyone. Always willing to help people. 
Marilyn and my youngest daughter share a special bond. They have the same birthday and they were 2 peas in a pod. Kailyn spent some of her birthday on Marilyn. She bought her a pretty white hat and a Beanie Boo Turtle,with hearts on it.  Marilyn was so happy to receive it!

Marilyn was a treasure.  When my mom Joan Rutkowski moved into Amberleigh - she and Marilyn quickly became a team.  She was kind, sweet and a delightful lady.  They worked together to crochet baby hats for newborns that were made with pure love.  I picked up a bunch from her last year and brought them to our local hospital in Jamestown.  

I stopped into Amberleigh yesterday to drop off a bouquet of flowers and a Thanksgiving card for Marilyn and was told she had passed.  After a few tears, I was relieved she was no longer dealing with the day to day struggles and was free.  Dear Marilyn - rest easy.  Love,  Judi Goerke

Words cannot express my sorrow for the loss of my Aunt Marilyn (my Mimi).  She was my best friend, my mentor, my "other Mother".  Thank you all for your kind condolences.
     When we both lived in Austin, Texas we would drive up to Houston to attend the International Quilt Show.  One year to spent four days attending classes and quilt and fabric shopping. We had a great time. 
     When Marilyn moved back to  Buffalo to be with family and start her aggressive attack on Multiple Myeloma, I new she was a fighter.
     In 2008 my husband  accepted a new job in Pennsylvania.  Now we were only six  hours away. We did many trips to Buffalo to visit and sometimes I would drive up by myself to visit her at Amberleigh.  
     Marilyn taught me many things.  She was always kind, patient, helpful,  and curious.  But, most of all she had a wonderful quality of just listening.  I will miss our phone calls.  Whenever my mother ( her sister Sally) or my five siblings would have an emergency health issue, we would call "911 Marilyn" and she would suggest how to handle the situation.
   It took me a week to post this, but I wanted to share how wonderful my Aunt Mimi was to me.
    Marilyn's husband was a Veteran of the US Navy during World War II.  Interment into the new VA Cemetery in Western New York National Cemetery in Pembroke, N. Y is pending. 

 

I adored Marilyn!!!  I work at The Amberleigh and I was blessed to know her.  I adored her positivity and her spirit!  I will cherish the masks she made!!!

Marilyn was working as a nurse for Dr. Uluer when I was pregnant with my daughter Maura.  As luck would have it, she also lived on the same street with us.  She was like a kind and caring mother to me, giving a pregnant mom support and understanding.  Maura turned 45 yesterday.  Good memories.

My Aunt Marilyn was the only aunt I knew and I am so lucky to have had her in my life and my family's life.  She was a woman who went through some tough times in her life, but she kept calm and carried on the best she knew how.  Her attitude was always to keep going and push through life,  she will always be an inspiration to me.
Will miss her much!

I am so sorry to see this news.   Marilyn was such a nice, nice lady.  She was kind, caring and such a sweet person.  Marilyn was my mom's friend at Amberleigh.  They would visit, puzzle, go on outings (when they could) and eat together.  Marilyn fought with such courage and strength and didn't complain.   She took things in stride with a smile and a giggle brightening the lives of those around her.   She was so talented.   Marilyn fixed my mom's sweater easily.  When covid hit she made masks for the nurses.

I will miss talking with Marilyn and dropping off bananas at her door.   It started with an issue and whenever I'd come into town to visit my mom (Bobbie) I'd leave them off at her door and it became a fun standing joke.  Marilyn was always checking to see how Mom was doing when she was ill. 

Marilyn and Mom were part of a  group that talked about life, families, cared about each other, puzzled together, and most of all had fun.  She will be missed.

May the memories and strength of family and friends turn this bitter time to bittersweet and then into sweet memories.   My thoughts are with her family including her special niece, her friends, her nurses, aides, her friends at Amberleigh, and all the lives she touched.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Marilyn.  She was my Amberleigh dining room buddy, always with a smile.  We shared reading material and gossip.  Through her many trials and tribulations she never complained.  She was indeed a very courageous lady.  It was a privilege to have known her and I shall miss her.
