October 3, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy “Dottie” (nee Dufort) McDonough; loving father of James (Melanie) McDonough, Kevin (Alma) McDonough, Kathleen (John) Miskovski and Patricia (Timothy) Mattulke; cherished grandfather of eight; devoted great- grandfather of five.
The family will be present to receive friends Thursday October 10th from 5-8 PM at Perna, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home 1671 Maple Road, Williamsville. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday October 11th at 11:00 AM in SS Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 66 E. Main Street, Hamburg, NY 14075. Please assemble at church. A private family burial will follow.
In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Buffalo, New York.
John (Jack) J McDonough (1931-2024)
Jack McDonough, 92, of West Seneca New York, passed peacefully on October 3rd, 2024, of natural causes in Williamsville, New York.
Jack was born in Schenectady, New York in 1931 to James and Laura McDonough, and grew up with his sister Joan (McDonald). Jack attended seminary in Rochester, NY, for two years before enlisting in the US Army and serving in Korea as a Scout, stationed at the DMZ.
Following his discharge from the US Army, Jack attended Siena College where he received his degree in teaching. During this time, he also met the love of his life, Dorothy Dufort. They were married in 1957. Jack pursued a career in School Administration, eventually becoming Superintendent of Schools for North Collins, NY, until his retirement in 1994. Jack and Dottie spent their retirement years in Georgia and Florida before returning back to the Buffalo area in 2004.
Throughout his life, Jack remained a devout Catholic and served in several volunteer capacities at parishes in the Williamsville area until his health no longer permitted. Jack also enjoyed golf, fishing, woodworking and baking. Jack especially loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and regularly held Sunday family dinners until well into his 80’s.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy, and is survived by his children James (Melanie) McDonough, Kevin (Alma) McDonough, Kathleen (John) Miskovski, Patricia (Timothy) Mattulke, his grandchildren, Andrew (Soobin), Frank, Bryan (Kelly), Mark (Caitlin), Julie, Erin (Jaelle), Emily and Caroline, and his great grandchildren Ava, Jackson, Ava, Clare and Sullivan.
