        Thinking of you and your family..It was nice to reconnect with you and JIm at the school 21 get together...Thoughts and prayers are coming your way....





Nancy and I met Jim and Sue Cavanaugh through activities in Marriage Encounter during the 1970’s.  We quickly became friends and with both couples starting our families, we found a lot in common.  Shortly after Jim and Sue built their new house on Waxwing Lane in East Amherst, we were enjoying a New Year’s Eve together in their new home.  When it was time for Nancy and I to go home, and after an enthusiastic night of celebration, I slipped and fell on their outside step.  Looking at me on the ground, it took Jim only a moment to point across the street at an empty lot and say “you know, it might be easier if you just built over there on that lot”.  And we did – becoming both friends and neighbors.  When I lost Nancy, Jim pulled me aside, as his daughter Shannon hosted a post-wake get together, and offered me a glass of wine with many remembered words of comfort.  Jim was a gentle, kind man.  He was my friend.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Jim was always helpful and loved by all. Maansi and Roli send their condolences also. Stay strong Susan.

     Jim’s life was spent doing for others whether it be family, friends, classmates.
     Jim had a vision. He wanted his 1964 football team recognized for their undefeated season. In 2021 Jim’s vision became reality. The team was inducted into the St. Joe’s Sports Hall of Fame.
     Jim, you will be greatly missed.

Jim and I had a wonderful conversation on March 3rd, discussed his great affection for St. Joe's and his deep faith.

Mr Cavanaugh was a special person and one of the best men I know.  He took me under his wing and was an amazing friend and mentor.  Thank you for all the memories, the pranks, the rivalries and the laughs.  I was lucky to live next to such a special person that helped guide me into the man I am today.  Thank you Mr. C, rest in peace my friend.  

I am so sorry for your loss! I remember my dad Paul vallely would tell me family stories about how you all would hang out. Shannan I was your buddy when you were in kindergarten at blessed sacrament. 

I had the honor to work with Jim on many occasions when I served with the Amherst Police.  He helped many people find healing from addiction.   He was and is one of the most stand up men   I have ever known...Rest in Peace my friend...

Time moves on and we find ourselves saying "till we meet again". I remember when we were kids visits to your house when I would tag along when our grandmothers would get together for a visit. Your football days when at St Joe's we're something I always followed. My condolences to your family. RIP dear cousin.

To the entire family my love and condolences are with you at this time. He was a wonderful man and a good neighbor. God has a special place for him. Rest in peace James you will be missed by all who knew you.

I am so saddened by the loss of James. I hope you find comfort in the wonderful memories and shared times you had together. 
My memories of Jim go back to PS 21 years! It was so special to reconnect the past two summers with him & to meet you Susan. I was so lucky to be able to plan the reunions with him. We shared many fond experiences of elementary school.   
I know his children & especially his grandchildren lit up his life.  He was so proud of their many accomplishments and successes.  
Jim was such a good , kind and thoughtful person. May his memory always be a blessing. Rest in Peace Jim
