Jack was born on March 2, 1934, to the late John W. and Dorothy (Stabler) Burgasser. He was raised in the Lovejoy neighborhood of Buffalo, the second of 6 children. A lifelong and very proud Buffalonian, Jack was an avid Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and New York Yankees fan, happily from the comfort of his recliner. He loved his time on the golf course, being fortunate to have played along the coast of California, including Pebble Beach. Jack loved “representing” with branded clothing and was most often seen wearing something to promote one of his favorite teams, a college team his grandsons played for, worked for or product they represented.
At a young age, Jack assumed a critical role to support and provide for his mom and younger siblings, requiring he leave high school and put his receiving his diploma on hold. He proudly represented the Teamsters and the Town of Amherst Highway Department, for many years.
When Jack met Ann Marie Telesco, at a dance, a place in his heart was forever filled. They married in 1954. He adored her. Together they raised 2 sons, continued to enjoy their time on the dance floor whenever the opportunity presented itself, traveling, playing golf and being with the people they loved. He worked hard to support his family, quietly making necessary sacrifices to do so. When he was in his 40’s, the trucking company he worked for closed. Jack finally had the opportunity and worked hard to complete his GED and earned his high school diploma.
After 67 years together, Jack was predeceased by the love of his life, Ann Marie Telesco Burgasser in October 2021. He was a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather. His 2 sons and their families, Mark (Marjie), Albany, NY and Douglas (Christine), Canandaigua, NY. survive him. He adored his grandchildren Jack (Sarah Rowe), Connor (Kimberly) Tyler (Hannah), Jimmy, Lauren (Adam Barbera), Sam (Nikki Stevens) and 2 adorable great granddaughters, Paisley and Tatum.
Jack’s sisters Dorothy (late Arthur) Tuskes, Pamela (Gary) Leonberger survive him, being predeceased by Joan (Frank) Eibl, David (Judith) Burgasser, and Robert (Shui Mei/Sally) Burgasser. Jack is also survived by Ann’s sister, Kathleen Lomeo Antonucci, who he also adored.
The family is appreciative for the time and attention Barbara and Eric provided over the last few years. Appreciation is also extended to his “village” who willingly satisfied his food cravings, making sure he had his fill of the Olive Garden, Ted’s, Wendy’s, Family Tree, and Wegman’s subs, to name a few! Think of him and smile as you pass these places in your travels!
Visitation in Jack’s memory will be held on Thursday June 13, 2024, from 4 PM – 7 PM at Perna, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home, 1671 Maple Road, Williamsville NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Friday, June 14, 2024, 10:30 AM, at St Benedict's RC Church, 1317 Eggert Rd, Amherst, NY 14226.
