Anthony R. D'Alba, longtime employee at Trico Products Corp.

Anthony Russell D'Alba, 86, formerly of Williamsville, died Monday, July 26, 2010 in Florida after a brief illness.

Mr. D'Alba was born Aug. 9, 1923 in Buffalo. In 1950 he graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Mechanical Engineering with a bachelor's degree.

He served in the Air Force during World War II, from 1943 to 1946.

Mr. D'Alba worked at Bell Aircraft in Niagara Falls and Avro in Toronto, Canada. He then worked at Trico Products Corp. for 26 years, retiring in 1983.

From 1950 to 1960, he lived in Buffalo. He then moved his family, including his late wife of 46 years, Eleanor, and their four children to Williamsville.

Last October, he moved to Florida with his wife, Frances.

Mr. D'Alba enjoyed creating ships in bottles, cooking, and dancing. He was a UB Bulls and Buffalo Bills fan, and he also enjoyed listening to big band music, Stan Getz, and Oscar Peterson. His humility and charity were practiced daily.

He is survived by his second wife, Frances; sons: Mark (Lori), Anthony and Gregory (Jenny); daughter, Catherine Measer (Trey); 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor; brother, Salvatore; and sisters: Grace Sperazza, Agnes Castronova, and Rose Machowski.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5 at Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home, 5541 Main St., Williamsville.

A celebration of life will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, also at Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home.
