William Earl Cowan

William Earl Cowan, 67, died Monday April 12, 2010 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Community Christian Church with Daniel Voris and Chris Minton officiating; burial will follow at Martin Memorial Gardens. Mr Cowan was born in Martin County son of William Jackson And Rowena Gardner Hoggard. He was orphaned when he was 3 years old and was raised by Joe and Magdalene Cowan. He was a self employed carpenter and a member of Community Christian Church where he served as an Elder. On April 19, 1992 he married I Mildred Wright Cowan

who survives. Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter Debra Bennett & husband David of Carrollton VA, sons Rodney Cowan and wife Linda, and David Cowan & wife Rosa all of Smithfield VA, Step daughters Rebecca Clayton & husband Tommy of Belhaven and Amy Wright of Fayetteville, step sons Donald Wright & wife Nancy of New Bern and Mark Wright & wife Patti of Mt Pleasant PA, sisters Sally Gardner & husband Leslie of Jamesville, Leslie Ward & husband Robert of Smithfield VA, & Marcella Ward of Bear Grass, brothers Roy Hoggard & wife Linda of Robersonville, Robert Hoggard of Winterville, and Kenny Hoggard & wife Sally of Bear Grass,4 grandchildren. 9 Step grandchildren, & 5 Step great grandchildren.& many nieces & nephews He was preceded in death by sisters Marie Scott & Maggie Hardison.
