Mary Evelyn Ferrell Daniels long time resident of Williamston, died Friday, May 18, 2012 after an extended illness. She was born on November 7, 1910 in Lacama, NC to Henry Ferrell and Lessie Bone FerrelL She grew up in the Black Creek Community in Wilson Co., NC where she graduated from Black Creek School in 1928. She went on to the Tayloe School of Nursing in Washington, Ne. On September 24, 1933, she married H.L. "Jack" Daniels, Sr of Williamston. She worked as a Nurse at the Liberty Street Hospital and Martin General Hospital where she was affectionately known as "Mrs. Jack". Her career in nursing spanned close to 50 years. Evelyn loved her church and spent many hours volunteering, working on various committees and caring for church members. She will be remembered for her devotion as a mother, grandmother, friend and
neighbor. Evelyn is predeceased by her husband H.L."Jack" Daniels, Sr and her eldest son H.L."Jack" Daniels, Jr. She is survived by her sons Edward Ferrell Daniels, Sr. and wife Jean of Smithfield, Virgina, William Henry Daniels of Williamston, daughter-in law Sarah Brown Daniels of Raleigh, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Williamston, NC. Visitation will be at Biggs Funeral Home on May 22, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:30pm and a funeral service will be at the First United Methodist Church on May 23, 2012 at 3:00pm.
