Bill graduated in 1961 from Bay City St Joseph High School then attended Michigan State University graduating in 1965. He then went on to the University of Detroit School of Law, graduated and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1973. Bill worked for the Social Security Administration for 27 years in many positions. When he retired from Federal employment he opened his own law office until Karen made retirement look so inviting that he decided to join her.
Bill enjoyed many things in life, but his favorite things were gardening, watching the grandkids swim in Black Lake, getting together with family and life long friends, and going up north and riding on forest trails looking for wild blueberries and black berries and experiencing all nature had to offer. One of the things Bill was most proud of was later in his life being inducted into the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame as apart of the St. Joes 1960 undefeated football team.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jeanette Schell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Karen A. Schell; son, Christopher (Kate) Schell; daughter, Carla (Andres) Lopera; grandchildren, Nico, Claudia, and Viviana Lopera; and siblings, Susan Trojanowicz, Anne Scott, and Jim Schell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. If you had the privilege of knowing Bill, memories or condolences can be left for the family below.
