Velma L. Phillips of Fowlerville, Michigan, passed away on October 10th, at age 98. Velma was born in Webberville, Michigan, on June 8, 1924 to Hazen and Laura Monroe. She grew in Webberville and Stockbridge areas. She married Delmar Phillips in 1941.
In her adult years, she was always involved in church work as well as working at Christian Salvage Mission (currently Mission Cry/CRI) where she served faithfully for 32 years.
Her memory is cherished by her sons, Danny (Ana) Phillips, Duane (Carol) Phillips, Paul (Carla deceased) Phillips; her daughters, Linda Blankenship and Debbie (Bill) Wakeman; her grandchildren, Keith, Kurt, Kris, Kevin, Jessica, Joshua, Angela, April, Natalie, Kyle, Kaleb, and Kenneth; and many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Delmar; brothers, Harold and Cloyd; and her sister, Cora Peterson.
There will be a visitation at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle St., Williamston, on Sunday October 16 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. A Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11AM at First Baptist Church, 214 S. Grand Ave., Fowlerville with visitation at 10AM. Graveside service to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Fowlerville.
Serving as pallbearers are Velma's grandsons, Kyle Wakeman, Kaleb Wakeman, Kenneth Wakeman, and Joshua Phillips; and family friends, Caleb Williams and Duane Carr.
