If you knew Shirley Sadler, then you know this was the beginning of her favorite limerick.
Shirley Sadler, 88, of Williamston, MI passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 15, 1936, she was the daughter of Lawrence P. and Katherine M. (Boegel) Lynch.
It was befitting that Shirley chose October 31 to transition beyond this worldly earth because Halloween was her favorite time of year, although any weekend or holiday was an excuse to surround herself with family, friends, food, and laughter. She was a beautiful woman, both inside and out, with a quick wit and charm, and she was the very heart and soul of so many magnificent memories. Shirley never met a stranger, was a friend to all and lived life to fullest.
She was a 1955 graduate of Resurrection High School in Lansing, MI and shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, Keith Sadler. After her five children were raised, she worked for many years as a dental receptionist in the Lansing area before retiring. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Church in Williamston, MI. She was also a member of the Delta Rho Sorority.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Keith; daughter Kathy (Joe) Wahl; daughter Chris Felton; son Ric (Stuart) Sadler; son Rod (Terri) Sadler; daughter Lisa (Brian) Wheatcraft; grandsons Dan (Nina) Wahl; Matt Felton; Dan Felton; Shaughn Felton; Alex (Kalah) Schmidt; Austin (Emma) Sadler; Andy Sadler; granddaughters Courtney (Jon) Krueger; Beka (Orry) Lesh; and Megan (Matthew) Walter, eleven great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Ellie, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her son, Ric, always believed he was her favorite, but that was part of Shirley’s beauty, as she made each one of her kids, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren, believe they were her favorite. She was a woman who deeply loved her husband and her entire family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Katherine (Boegel) Lynch; brother Quinn Lynch; brother and sister-in-law James and Lois Lynch; son-in-law Kevin Felton; and father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Muriel Sadler.
The family would like to thank Matt Flint for his friendship, weekly spiritual support and communion offering to mom and dad, while also giving a special thank you to Nicole, Tammy, Kristen and Denise, and the entire staff from Residential Hospice for their compassionate care of Shirley and the family during the past several months.
