Born June 13, 1957 to William Jerome Turner and Patricia Ann (DeLage) Turner, Mike was a Williamston resident his whole life. Mike and the love of his life, LeAnn Renee (Jorgensen), met as teenagers. After graduating from Williamston High School in 1975, he went on to study business and accounting at MSU and receive his Bachelor’s degree.
Mike and LeAnn created a beautiful life together, having three sons John (Victoria), Michael (Melanie), and Scott (Stefanie). Mike believed in working hard and he ran a successful business, Jorgensen Farm Elevator, for nearly four decades. He also believed in playing hard, and he made wonderful memories with family up north at Boyne City or Beaver Island, on vacations to New York City, Europe or Florida, or with friends “after hours” at the elevator and the Brookshire.
Mike was always the life of the party, even on his last day, hosting friends, family and loved ones to share laughs, tears, and memories. A no-nonsense guy, Mike didn’t waste any time, passing peacefully at home after just 36 hours on hospice care.
Mike is survived by his bride of 43 years, LeAnn, sons John, Michael and Scott, daughters-in-law Victoria, Melanie and Stefanie, grandchildren Jesse, Gloria, Avery, Violet, June, Rosie, Dottie and Ray; sisters Susan Snow and Peggy (Wayne) Marlatt, and brother Daniel (Kara) Turner, along with numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, dear friends, and his beloved dog, Bella. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Pat.
Mike was the center of all our orbits. A charismatic, magnetic man who will be remembered for his tell-it-like-it-is attitude, his larger-than-life presence, and his aptitude for telling a great story. While he is irreplaceable and the void he leaves behind is deep and wide, his sons and grandchildren will proudly carry Mike’s legacy and memory well into the future.
Visitation will be at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home (205 E Middle Street, Williamston) Monday, December 18 from 4:00-8:00pm. Funeral will be held at Family Life Wesleyan Church, formerly Rowley Wesleyan, (3720 Rowley Road, Williamston) Tuesday, December 19 at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 10:00am. Mike will be laid to rest at Summit Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
