During highschool he worked on the family farm while his older brother was away at war. After working on the farm he went into the service and was sent to Korea to build the roadways and airports. After his time in the service he then married Vivian Cox and had one son, Robert M. Chick. In 1987 his wife, Vivian passed away and six years later he remarried Marie Lorraine (Brooks) Chick. During this time they were married for 28 years before Marie passed away in 2021.
During his life he ran many different businesses which included many bike shops. He was also an avid pilot and decided that he would stop flying when he turned 90 years old. He enjoyed visiting friends and family when he would fly down from Frankfort.
He was preceded in death by his parents Amal and Flossie Chick. His first wife Vivian (Cox) Chick. Second wife Marie (Brooks) Chick. His brother Leo Chick and his daughter-in-law Gwenda Chick.
He is survived by his son, Robert Chick; step-sons, Chris (Angie) Brooks, Thomas (Judy) Brooks and Mark (Debbie) Brooks; grandchildren, Matthew Chick and Christina (Jeff) Herbert; great-grandchildren, Anna, Evan, and Joseph Herbert.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle Street, with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Owosso.
