He was born on July 17, 1946 in Reed City, MI. He was a graduate of Evert High School, and a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a forklift driver for Oldsmobile for 44 years, and an over-the-road truck driver for 12 years.
Although he had no formal mechanical or electrical training, Carl could fix almost anything, and loved to help others repair anything that was broken. He was an avid amateur ham radio operator, a music lover, and a motorcycle enthusiast, but above all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher, neighbor, and friend, and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Wanda Canfield. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judy Canfield; children Teri Marshall-Bell and husband Laurance; Lori Mueller and husband Markus; Robert Marshall and wife Deanna; Tami Parrish and husband Terry; Shawn Mead and husband Herb; Sheri Best and husband Matt; Rebecca Yancey and husband Danny; Melissa Goodnoe and husband Brent; Keli Coakley and husband Erik Schachterle; and Travis Canfield and wife Sharon; brother, Gary Canfield; and sister Carol Meneke, 31 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Carl lived a full life full of love and laughter and will be missed by many. There is no way to say goodbye to a man who has added so much joy to so many lives, so we will just say, “See you later,” and sign off with his ham radio handle. “This is Carl Canfield, K8YHH, signing off.” 73s.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Lansing Stake Center located at 431 E. Saginaw St., East Lansing, MI, 48823.
