Al was born on June 19, 1936 in Midland, Michigan to Bartholomew and Mary Chritz (Smietana). He married the love of his life, Anita Frances Blair, on September 28, 1963 in Baltimore, Maryland. Al went to Author Hill High in Saginaw, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan Technological University as a Chemical Engineer. He was worked as an engineer for the State of Michigan for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served at the Edgewood Chemical and Biological Center at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD in the Chemical Warfare Service.
Al loved his daily walks with his dog, Maizey, his many friendships, the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, carpentry, and woodworking. Above all, Al loved his family - his wife, his girls, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters in Michigan and in Maryland. He was always just a phone call away if you needed help with anything - whether it be help with roofing, electrical, or needing your TV fixed, he could do it all. He will be remembered as the generous provider that he was.
Al is survived by his beloved wife, Anita; daughters, Jennifer Chritz, Karen Jacobs (Scott), and Allison Clark; sisters, Margaret, Francis, Wanda Bell (Ed), Mary Lou Heaps (Bob), and Barbara Hysell (John); brother, Donald Chritz (Ida); granddaughters, Jessica Johnson, Virginia Jacobs, and Michaela Jacobs; grandsons, Matthew Jacobs (Michelle), David Clark (Stephanie), and Jonathon Clark; great-grandsons, Liam Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Marshall Jacobs, Michael Borgnino, Owen Jacobs, Clark Johnson, Maverick Clark, and Asher Clark. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bartholomew and Mary Chritz; brothers, Joseph, Edward, Bartholomew, and Leonard; and sisters, Jean, Irene, Rose, and Clara.
